The Druid Irish Pub is Closing • Farewell Party this Saturday • Brand New Concept Will Take its Place this Fall

The Druid Irish Pub located at Jasper Ave & 116 Street is closing up shop.

EDMONTON — This comes to a shocking surprise to many. In just 4 days, the Druid Irish Pub will be closing its doors and be gone forever. This, after 16 years of business and hundreds of thousands of patrons keeping the place thriving.

The current pub will be getting transformed into “a fresh, new concept” according to the Druid’s owners. The new concept is opening in the same location, and is being kept by the Druid’s current owners, keeping one of Edmonton’s most favorable locations for the city’s very active and growing nightlife.

Unfortunately for most of the Druid’s staff, they were only informed of the upcoming closure on Monday evening.

On Saturday, August 20th beginning at 7:00 PM, the Druid Irish Pub is having their farewell party and everyone is welcome to attend.

The Druid is closing and being replaced by a new concept

Many, many memories have been made here by countless people over the years. A lot of sadness is seen on @thedruidpub‘s Twitter page.

Some are taking the upcoming closure harder than others:

The Druid Irish Pub thanks everyone for 16 wonderful years of business. Here’s to 16 more years of thriving business for their undisclosed new business concept.

We can only hope that this decision to change what isn’t broken, does not ruin the Druid’s landmark reputation.

We look forward to seeing this fresh, new concept!

The Druid was a buzzing Irish pub & grill with rotating events like comedy acts, live bands, karaoke & weekend DJs located at 11606 Jasper Ave.

It’s all about perception, it doesn’t sound like it’s closing at all – except for the renovations it will require. Sounds more like it’s owners (which will remain the same) are just changing it’s clothes, not actually closing ……
