Out with the Old, In with the New — The Future of the Greyhound Location, and its New Home

Edmonton’s downtown Greyhound station, currently located in Edmonton’s new and coming Ice District was inevitably getting a new home, but this home was unbeknownst to any of us, until now.

Greyhound has officially announced where the Greyhound station will be making its new home, and that new home is the Via Rail site located at 12304 121 Street, just north of Yellowhead Trail.

Their lease at the downtown location is set to expire in May of 2016, and there is no chance of renewal. The building will be torn down, making way for the beautification that Ice District bestows upon us. Cinemas, other retail outlets, and residential units will take over the lot in the months an years to come.

Greyhound has a second location in Edmonton, which is located just off of Calgary Trail at 5723 104 Street.

Here’s a look at what today’s downtown Greyhound station will look in roughly 1.5 to 2 years time:
