What better day than 4/20 is there to make an announcement about legalizing marijuana in this great country of ours.
It was just announced earlier today that Canada will be introducing marijuana legalization legislation in the Spring of 2017 – basically just one year from today.
Canadian Health Minister Jane Philpott made the following announcement at the United Nations General Assembly in New York:
“We will introduce legislation in spring 2017 that ensures we keep marijuana out of the hands of children and profits out of the hands of criminals,” Philpott said. “While this plan challenges the status quo in many countries, we are convinced it is the best way to protect our youth while enhancing public safety.”
According to a recent Angus Reid Institute poll, 68 percent of Canadians feel that legalizating pot in Canada is the right thing to do.
What are your thoughts on the matter?
