UPDATE 11:10 AM — It is now known that the female riding the bicycle is 21 years old. The extend of her injuries are still unknown. The driver of the pickup truck is a 22 year old male.
UPDATE 9:50 AM — Edmonton Police is asking you to please avoid the area:
A female cyclist was riding her bike just before 8 AM this morning when she was struck by a red truck at the intersection of Coronet Road and 86 Street.
Fire rescue, police and ambulance rushed to the scene, and the young girl was taken to the hospital in a hurry. It is not known how bad her injuries are at this time.

ROAD CLOSURE — Please keep in mind that this intersection will be closed for the next couple of hours as police investigate the scene. Take alternative routes.
We can only hope that the young girl will be alright, and that her injuries aren’t severe our worse yet, life-threatening.
Let’s take this as a heavy warning this morning that it is the responsibility of cyclists, pedestrians, motorcyclists and motorists alike to keep our streets safe. We have to look out for one another and be cautious of what’s around us at all times.
