A group of loving volunteers hosted a free BBQ dinner for the less fortunate today.
This event was the third free dinner event to take place by the [Earth Angels – join us!] volunteers, and it was a great turnout. It is far from the last event, too. They plan to hold their next event in September, with hope that events can continue throughout the winter if they can manage to get approval for use of somewhere indoors.
The building at Dawson Park and their sign:
Tons of less fortunate individuals made their way to the very-minimally advertised free BBQ dinner that took place in Dawson Park today. The event started at 3:00 PM and ended at roughly 6:00 PM. In those three short hours, we ended up running out of food, so that was lovely!
At first, things were a little slow:
But then things picked up rather quickly:
I brought drinks and granola bars, others brought more drinks and snacks, and Darryl Olsen and his wife Jessie Olsen – the two main organizers of the event and group as a whole – brought tons of delicious home made foods. It was a team effort like no other.
Cooking up a storm on the public BBQ:
It was a beautiful event, to say the very least, and I couldn’t be happier to have been a part of it.
Video above: Darryl and his daughter try out the hot peppers.
Turns out that was a terrible idea, haha!
I am truly looking forward to September’s event. I will be writing about the next Earth Angels event prior to it occurring, so look out for that sometime in September. 🙂
