Fill Up! — Edmonton Gas Prices Jumping Up to 106.9

Edmonton’s average gasoline price is jumping up 13 to 16 cents. Fill’r up!

If you don’t want to be caught having to fill up at ~106.9c/L, you best fill your tank tonight or early AM tomorrow because it looks like gas prices are taking a hefty jump upwards.

UPDATED AT 10:55 PM — The reason for the gas price bump is due to a gas shortage in the area. This is more than likely due to the wildfires in and around Fort McMurray affecting production in Northern Alberta.

With oil staying above the $50/barrel mark, gas prices have been slowly but surely rising over the course of the past few months now, but tonight’s jump is a rather big one.

I don’t want to even imagine what gas prices will be when the price of a barrel gets back up to $100.

Some stations still sit as low as 90.4 as of this writing. Most stations sit at the ~93 mark. It looks like roughly 1 in 10 stations are sitting at 106.9 though, so this is just a courteous heads up to you all.

So if you see yourself needing gas, don’t just stop to the nearest gas station. Make sure to use the GasBuddy app and find a station. That is still sitting in the low 90’s and save yourself a bit of coin!

Can anyone tell me why gas prices are so high when price per barrel is so low? Why are our prices so much higher than the states?
