The Alberta RCMP is giving distracted drivers a forth option. Attend a seminar and learn first-hand the damages of distracted driving.
ALBERTA — The RCMP’s ‘Option 4’ is normally used for child seat infractions and other situations where parents have not properly secured their children into a child seat in their vehicle.
Alberta RCMP has recently decided to give this ‘Option 4’ to those being caught driving while distracted, providing a forth option instead of only the three usually given to us. Those three options being pay the ticket, dispute the ticket, or go to court.
The forth option here is to attend a seminar with others caught driving while distracted, and listening to RCMP Sgt. Darrin Turnball, along with Melody Battle; a crash victim that had driven into the rear end of a grater near Rocky Mountain House back in 2013.
She survived the crash, but ended up with traumatic brain injury. She was texting her boss informing him that she would be a bit late to work.
Without further ado, here’s the video by the Alberta RCMP:
One of the seminar attendants says:
It was eye opening. We all know what can happen when you drive distracted. But to have it right there in front of you is definitely very dramatic and shocking.Simon
Please do us all a favor and don’t drive while attempting to use your phone or any other electronics in any way.
We’re all just trying to get to our destination. Take a moment here to think of the life changing tragedy that you can personally cause in someone else’s life, let alone your own.
Love the initiative that the Alberta RCMP have taken here.
